Volunteers

Volunteer Power. It’s what the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre runs on!

The Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre could not operate for a single day without the support of its wonderful force of volunteers. Through their efforts CAHC has consistently been Tripadvisor’s No. 1 visitor attraction in the area and has received the Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence 4 years in a row!

Every day we are open our teams of men and women of all ages are on hand to let us bring to the visiting public experiences they can’t get anywhere else. Meeting and greeting, guiding and advising, telling stories and answering questions – these are just some of the frontline activities that our volunteers undertake.

But there is so much more. Our 4 acre site needs constant attention to keep it looking good, there is always something that needs painting, the café and shop need support for the busy and the quieter times. School visits are a frequent occurrence and work marvellously when we have a good team of volunteers on hand to help keep things under control.

And of course the fleet of aircraft exhibits need their own special forms of attention ranging from regular cleaning inside and out, routine maintenance, refurbishment and repairs all the way though to full-on restoration projects.

We welcome volunteers of all ages and all genders, previous experience isn’t necessary and you don’t have to know anything about aircraft. You can give 1 day a month or 5 days a week, it’s up to you, we just ask that you plan your days with us, so we can plan our daily operation. Volunteering at CAHC is all about a positive attitude and enjoying what you can do in an amazing, unique location.

The Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre is now permanently closed due to the the termination of its premises lease. The project to relocate the museum has been set-aside as the request for 8 months deferral of notice to allow time to prepare the new site was refused. Thank you to all CAHC's supporters, especially the SDL Foundation which offered to provide £1,000,000 to finance the aborted relocation project.

Cornwall Council has terminated CAHC's tenancy and we may never open again. If you would like to help fight this decision by Cornwall Council, please sign our online petition at - https://www.change.org/p/save-cornwall-aviation-heritage-centre
