Inspirational classroom – totally unique to Cornwall…

Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre provides a unique educational facility in the South West. Centred around a classroom onboard our fantastic BAC 1-11 aircraft, we will be offering a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) based learning environment for local schools and colleges.

There will be the opportunity to look at and get hands-on with everything from the principles of flight, through to aircraft systems and restoration. From September we will be trialling a series of out of school sessions with a local secondary school prior to rolling out a full program later in the year.

School trips

School trips are a big part of what we plan to do here. Fun practical activities relevant to the curriculum can be added and tailored to all age groups from reception class right up to Year 13. Students will be able to see what it feels like to sit in a real (but decommissioned!) ejection seat in several different ex-military jet aircraft.

As we are based in a Cold War era Hardened Aircraft Shelter (HAS) they will learn what it was like for pilots who were on Quick Reaction Alert (QRA), ready to protect the UK skies 24 hours a day.

We will be adding new elements to our educational program all the time and look forward to welcoming you!
